    I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics at Rutgers University. While a mathematician by training, I currently work in the field of statistical genetics. In this field, we use statistics to localize genes that increase disease risk. Investigations in statistical genetics include (but are not limited to) research in: (i) methodological topics (ii) applied topics. Regarding research item (i), we develop novel statistlcal method methods to analyze genetic/genomic data. Regarding item (ii), we applied statistical methods (novel and existing) to phenotype- and genotype/genomic-data collected from a sample of diseased individuals, and unaffected individuals.

   My primary interest is in developing novel methods (item (i) above) that localize putative disease loci. More specifically, my research focus deals with multiple forms of heterogeneity (or mixtures). I work on locus heterogeneity, mixtures of longitudinal data phenotypes, classification of phenotypes, genotypes, and genomic data (e.g, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Copy Number), and mixtures for survival analysis.

   Also, I collaborate with applied geneticists, physicians, and other health-care professionals to perform disease localization studies. Examples of phenotypes on which I have worked include: Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS); late-onset Alzheimer's Disease; hair and skin disorders Turrette’s Syndrome, Schizophrenia; and other forms of mental illness.
